Free, low-cost pet services offered by Humane Animal Partners in 2025

Getting ready for Delaware’s 2025 prom season
As the winter turns to spring, high school students’ minds turn to prom season. 3/4/25
- Humane Animal Partners is a Delaware animal shelter with locations in Stanton, Wilmington and Rehoboth.
- In March, Humane Animal Partners is offering a free spay/neuter day for Sussex County cats. Previous events for cats in New Castle County were offered in December.
- Along with periodic free offerings, HAP routinely hosts low-cost vaccine clinics for cats and dogs all around Delaware.
Humane Animal Partners has free pet services for cat owners in Sussex County this month.
HAP offered free spay/neuter days in December for New Castle County cat owners, and those services are now being offered at an event in Rehoboth.
The feline spay/neuter day is supported by a $50,000 grant-in-aid from the Delaware General Assembly and is available for county-owned cats. If needed, a free rabies vaccine will be administered during the visit.
Community and stray cats are not eligible for this clinic.
Cat owners can visit HAP Rehoboth at 18675 Coastal Highway on March 24 to participate.
HAP notes that clinic spots are limited and will fill quickly. Anyone wanting to take advantage of this free opportunity should call (302) 200-7159 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
Upcoming $20 vaccine clinic
For residents who missed the December events or cannot attend the event on March 24, HAP hosts plenty of vaccination clinics for cats and dogs throughout the year.
The organization is holding a $20 vaccine clinic at the Cheer Community Center in Georgetown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 20.
This low-cost clinic will provide vaccines, microchips, and flea/tick preventatives — including DHPP (canine distemper), FVRCP (feline distemper), Bordetella (kennel cough), rabies vaccines, and general dewormers — on a first-come, first-served basis.
Preregistration is required.
More low-cost vaccine clinics in 2025 from HAP
HAP’s vaccine clinics across its three locations in Stanton/Christiana, Wilmington and Rehoboth offer discounted services; there is no exam fee. All services are first come, first served; no appointment is required.
HAP requires owners to bring a form of identification and their pet’s most recent vaccine history, even if it’s expired.
Dogs must be on a short leash (retractable leashes are not permitted) and muzzled upon arrival if necessary. Cats must be in securely closed carriers made of hard plastic or cardboard.
Other reminders for visitors include:
- Vaccinations are for cats and dogs only.
- Animals as young as 6 weeks old may receive a distemper vaccine.
- Animals must be at least 16 weeks old to receive a rabies vaccine.
- If an animal has had a previous rabies vaccination, the most recent rabies certificate with a vet’s signature must be brought to the clinic to receive a three-year rabies vaccine.
- Cash or card payments are due at the time of service.
