Dog food sold in NY recalled for possible salmonella contamination

New York pet owners should again check the labels on their animal’s food as almost 6,000 pounds of dog food has now been recalled for potential salmonella contamination.

North Carolina-based Blue Ridge Beef recalled their Natural Mix after samples of the product taken and tested by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and North Carolina Department of Agriculture Food and Drug Protection Laboratory returned a positive result for salmonella, according to an alert made by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Friday.

The same company recalled over 1,000 pounds of cat food last month for possible salmonella contamination.

Here’s what to know about the recall.

Which products have been recalled

Almost 6,000 pounds of Blue Ridge Beef's "Natural Mix" has been recalled across eight states "due to a contamination of salmonella," FDA said.

Two-pound logs of Blue Ridge Beef’s Natural Mix packaged in clear plastic with lot number N25/12/31 and UPC number 854298001054 have been recalled. The affected products were distributed between Jan. 3, 2025-Jan. 24, 2025 and sold primarily in retail stores throughout New York, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Rhode Island.
