THE AHL CEO TOM COLVIN TELLS US CLIENTS WHO CURRENTLY GO TO THOSE SPOTS WON’T SEE MANY CHANGES AT ALL, OTHER THAN NEW SIGNAGE. COMMUNITY VACCINE CLINICS, SPAY AND NEUTERING EFFORTS AND MORE WILL BE PROVIDED. THE AHL SAYS ACQUIRING THESE TWO CLINICS REALLY HELPS WITH THE NONPROFIT’S GOAL. OUR MISSION IS TRYING TO KEEP PETS IN THEIR OWN HOMES, AND ONE OF THE WAYS TO DO THAT IS TO MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO AFFORD VETERINARY CARE. The Animal Rescue League now owns two veterinary clinics in Des Moines, where it will offer low-cost care for pets. Those locations are the ARL Afford-A-Care Pet Clinic – East, formerly the Low Cost Spay Clinic on East 14th Street, and ARL Afford-A-Care Pet Clinic – South, formerly Afford-A-Care Pet Hospital on Southeast 14th Street. The ARL said the clinics will be renamed and will continue to provide affordable pet care with the goal of keeping pets in their loving homes and out of the shelter. “These clinics will also expand our capacity to support other lifesaving and rescue programs at the ARL,” said ARL CEO Tom Colvin in a press release Monday. “From community vaccine clinics to spay/neuter efforts and beyond, helping the ARL meet the demands of animal rescue and pet support throughout Iowa.”
