Having a Parrotlet as a Pet Bird

The parrotlet is a big personality in the parrot body. Their bodies are small with an average length of about six inches. Parrotlets will weigh on averagely 28 grams when they are hatched. Parrots are kept as pet birds by many people. Humans have seen the importance of rearing parrotlets in their homes. Many people like them because of their friendly nature and also the fact that one can train the parrot on various issues. They easily notify a person when there is a visitor in the compound. However people ask themselves so many questions about this bird and more often have some misconceptions about them.

Parrotlets are very beautiful pet birds to have in your compound. Parrots are of different colors which everyone can tell. The colors may be used to signify the different types of parrotlets there exist in the world. Some of the species of the parrots are expensive and rare to find. The Pacific parrot is the most available species of the parrotlets. Other colors include the Green rump, the yellow face and the blue wing. Species that are yellow in color are the ones that are very hard to find.

Parrotlets have a big appetite which fuels it’s antique and the playful nature. Naturally the parrots like cracking nuts to feed and also exercise their bodies. They crack the nuts and feed what’s on the inside. They should be fed with a constant supply of natural supplements to aid them with their proper growth. Parrotlets require a lot of energy as compared to fully grown parrots which can feed on nuts and some other readily available food material for survival. Food with very high sugar content is not a good diet for the parrotlets and therefore should be avoided. Also food with high contents of fat should not be part of their diet.

Every pet bird needs the attention of their owner. Parrotlets require very less attention by their owners as they are capable of playing by themselves. Io minutes attention is enough for the fully grown birds. They should be provided with toys and perches in their cages so that they can effectively play by their selves. These birds do well by themselves, and so they don’t need company. Parrots are a territorial bird which only requires the attention of their owners and the attention of fellow parrots. They, therefore, need to be housed separately

Parrotlets are aggressive to anything that seems to interfere with their personal space. Parrots are fearless and can be harmful to other pets if not well separated from each other. Little kids should be kept far from them to avoid disturbing them and getting injured. However the birds are friendly depending on the kind of interaction one has with them.
