Two Important Dog Care Tips
Exercise Your Dog Often
Routine and varied walks aren’t only important to keep your pet healthy. They also give him the opportunity to explore new surroundings and to experience new stimulation, including meeting other dogs. This can help him develop into a contented and well-adjusted dog, and prevent developing behavior problem.
Always supervise your own dog’s outdoor walking and exercise. Have in mind that not everybody likes dogs. And of course that accidents can happen quite readily, so unless you’re in a completely fenced place that is safe, keep your dog on a leash.
Also, do not make the mistake of over-exercising your dog while he is still young, as his bones aren’t yet that strong enough to withstand the extra strain this puts on him. Until your dog grows to full strength, the rule is exercising him at a briefer interval and often.
Should you have a backyard that is fenced, setting up a pet door so that he can have an extra exercise whenever he feels like or need to venture out is one of the best solution. It’s going to prevent many health issues later on.
Feed the Dog the Right Food
A high-quality dog food is vital for a healthy dog. Always check on the labels what the ingredients are. Plenty of dry foods are based on corn as their principal element, which may be great for chicken or pigs, but it is undoubtedly bad for dogs! Dogs are primarily meat-eaters, so the majority of the food should be animal-proteins-based.
Even when you locate dry food where they list meat as their first ingredient, be cautious and always check the general “outline” of the components.
Many pet food companies are using this dirty trick where they list the ingredients one-by-one so that it would appear the meat is the main component because it is listed first, but you will find out that the vast majority of the components are grain based when you add it all together.
Although canned food is much better as it is meat based, be aware of the aforementioned trick too, especially with vegetables. Please don’t even try those “healthful vegetable diets”. They may be best for you, but they definitely would not be good for your carnivore.
Obviously, you always have the option to add your dog canned food and some dry food to make it much more interesting. And make sure your pet has access to clean drinking water.
Follow these important dog care tips and you’ll have a happy and contented dog that will cheer you for the rest of its life.
